     Professor Sarker teaches courses on data management, systems analysis and design, management of IT in organizations, and qualitative research approaches. His research, which is largely qualitative in nature, has been published in such journals as MIS Quarterly; Information Systems Research; Journal of Management Information Systems; Journal of the Association of Information Systems; IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management; European Journal of Information Systems; Decision Support Systems, Information Systems Journal; Journal of Strategic Information Systems; Journal of Information Technology; Information Technology & People; MIS Quarterly Executive; Communications of the AIS; Communications of the ACM; ACM Transactions on MIS; ACM Database, IEEE Transactions on Professional Communication; IEEE Software; Decision Sciences Journal; and Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science. His work has been funded by the National Science Foundation, as well as the Institute for the Study of Business Markets. 


     He serves on the editorial boards of a number of journals, including Journal of the AIS (as editor-in-chief), MIS Quarterly (currently active as a senior editor emeritus), Journal of MIS (as a member of the Board of Editors), IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management (as an editorial board member), and Information Technology & People (as an editorial advisory board member). He is also a past editor-in-chief of Journal of Information Technology Case and Application Research, and a past senior editor of Decision Sciences Journal.


    Professor Sarker has held visiting professorships or visiting scholar positions at Royal Holloway University of London (University of London Chair of Technology & Information Management, part time) (United Kingdom); Helsinki School of Economics, Mikkeli, University of Oulu, Aalto University, Helsinki (as Distinguished Visiting Professor, summer terms) (Finland); Copenhagen Business School (as Microsoft Chair of Information Systems) (Denmark);  Vaxjo University (Sweden); National Economics University (Vietnam); Cesar Ritz University Center (Switzerland);  University of Kassel, University of Mannheim (Germany); University of New South Wales, University of Sydney (Australia); National Cheng Kung University (Taiwan), and has upcoming short appointments at the University of Auckland (New Zealand), University of Cape Town, and Nelson Mandela University (South Africa), among others.

     Professor Dennis holds the John T. Chambers Chair of Internet Systems in the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.  The chair was established in honor of John Chambers, the CEO of Cisco Systems, Inc., the leading developer of networking technology.


     Dr. Dennis’s research focuses on teams, designing technology for the subconscious, Neuro IS, and the Internet. He has written more than 100 research papers, and has won numerous awards for theoretical and applied research. He is the Vice President of Conferences for the Association for Information Systems. He was named a Fellow of the AIS in 2012.


     Dr. Dennis’s teaching focuses on business analytics, research methods, and data communications and networking. He has written four books, two on data communications and networking, and two on systems analysis and design.


     He has developed several software systems and technology start-ups over the years.  His current focus is on using big data and analytics to help parents select baby names NameInsights.

Prof. Christy M.K. Cheung is Associate Professor of Information Systems and e-Business Management and the Director of Research Postgraduate Programme of School of Business at Hong Kong Baptist University. Her research interests include Technology Use and Well-Being, Social Media, Data Analytics and IS Security. She has published more than 150 refereed articles in international journals and conference proceedings, including Decision Support Systems, Information & Management, Journal of Information Technology, Journal of Management Information Systems, Journal of the Association for Information Science and Technology, MIS Quarterly and among others. 

 

Her work has been recognized with research awards such as the Emerald Literati Network Awards for Excellence (2007; 2016), Distinguished Paper Awards at the International Conference on e-Commerce, e-Administration, e-Society, e-Education, and e-Technology (2011, 2014, 2015),  Best Paper Awards at the International Conference on e-Commerce, e-Administration, e-Society, e-Education, and e-Technology (2014) and International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS 2003).  As of March 2019, she has accumulated a total of citation count of 14162 times and acquired an h-index of 51 and i10-index of 92 (per Google Scholar) and a total of citation count of 3834 times and acquired an h-index of 26 (per SCI/SCCI Citations). Five of her articles are listed as “Highly Cited Papers (HCPs)”in Essential Science Indicators (ESI) in 2018.

 

Prof. Cheung’s academic leadership roles including being the Editor-in-Chief of Internet Research - an SSCI journal with an impact factor of 3.838 in 2017. She has also served in many different Senior Editor and Associate Editor roles for several IS journals, including Decision Support Systems, Information & Management, Information Systems Journal, and others. She is the President of the Association for Information Systems (AIS-Hong Kong Chapter) since 2017. She has served as Conference Chair and Track Chair in leading IS conferences (e.g., ICIS, ECIS, AMCIS, and PACIS). She has also been invited to give keynote speech, panel discussion, and invited seminars in Canada, China, Denmark, Germany, Portugal, Taiwan and the United States.

Prof. Olivia Sheng

Olivia Sheng is Presidential Professor and Emma Eccles Jones Presidential Chair of Information Systems at the David Eccles School of Business. She founded the Global Knowledge Management Center (http://gkmc.utah.edu) in 2003 to seek research and education extension of business analytics, and organizes one of the first academic conferences on business analytics (http://winterbaconf.org) since 2005.

 

Dr. Sheng has served many other meeting and award events, and journals in the global academic community. She was a co-track chair for the business analytics and data science track at the 2016 International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) as well as for the design science track at the 2009 ICIS. She was a faculty mentor at the 2018 and 2010 ICIS PhD consortia.  She was a keynote or invited speaker at the 2017 China Summer Workshop on Information Management (CSWIM), the 2016 and 2015 Taiwan Summer Workshop on Information Management (TSWIM) and the 2016 Informs Workshop on Data Mining and Decision Analytics Workshop. She was on the advisory board for CSWIM for multiple years and the inaugural INFORMS Workshop on Data Science in 2017. She has been invited to organize panels or speak on panels at many conferences including the MIS Leadership Conference, ICIS and INFORMS Workshop on Data Science in 2017.  She was on the best paper selection committee for WITS for multiple years and for the 2012 Conference on Information Systems and Technology (CIST). She was on the award selection committee for the INFORMS Design Science award for multiple years and the 2018 Chen-Nunamaker PhD Dissertation Award.  She has been a Senior Editor for the Information Systems Research journal since 2017.

 

Her research focuses on predictive and prescriptive analytics to address the needs in healthcare, marketing, social media, business relationship and performance, human resource, products and operations management. Her research has received funding from U.S. Food and Drug Administration, National Science Foundation, Overstock, Yahoo!, U.S. Army, IBM Tivoli, Toshiba Corp., Sun Microsystems, SAP University Alliance, and Wasatch Advisors.  Currently, she engages companies in Utah such as Backcountry, Utah Transit Authority, University of Utah Health Services, and Intermountain Healthcare Company to collaborate on research and capstone projects related to big data analysis.  Along with her collaborators, she was a recipient of the 2017 INFORMS Design Science Award. Her research publications received various media attention and professional recognitions. 

 

Dr. Sheng received the B.S. degree from the National Chiao Tung University in Taiwan, R.O.C. and the Master's and Ph.D. Degrees in Computers and Information Systems from the University of Rochester.  Prior to University of Utah, she was on faculty of Management Information Systems (MIS) at the University of Arizona from 1985 to 2002, and was University of Arizona’s MIS Department Head from 1997 to 2002. Since 1995, Dr. Sheng visited and taught globally at different institutions including Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Shanghai Jiao Tung University, and Molde University College in Norway.
