Message from Chair of EMSEV 2022

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

Due to the COVID-19, we are finally going to hold the 2022 EMSEV on 22-26 August 2022. Since it has been four years, many new developments and progress, such as observations of Swarm, CSES, FORMOSAT-5, and FORMOSAT-7/COSMIC-2 satellites, and the 15 January 2022 Tonga Volcanic Eruption, the Most Powerful Eruption of 21st Century. To report the developments and progresses, we propose to invite three keynotes (one inside Taiwan and two outside Taiwan (for earthquake and volcano each) Taiwan), a plenary session (report processes/statuses related to EMSEV studies in China, France, India, Italy, Japan, Russia, Taiwan, USA, etc.), and a special session for Tonga Volcanic Eruption, and typical/regular sessions.

Meanwhile, we have arranged two field trips: (1) Taiwan Volcano Observatory (TVO) - Tatun on 25 August 2022 (https://tvo.earth.sinica.edu.tw/) and (2) 921 Chi-Chi Earthquake Museum of Taiwan on 26 August 2022 (https://www.nmns.edu.tw/en/visit/explore-our-parks/921-earthquake-museum-of-taiwan/). Meanwhile, the abstract deadline of 6/30 is approaching. We would like to suggest to extend to 7 July 2022.

We look forward to seeing you in Taiwan soon!

Sincerely yours,

Tiger J.Y. Liu
