Three-dimensional liquid crystalline photonic crystal (3D LCPC) has been extensively studied in recent years. Here, we propose a method to simulate its diffraction patterns in this work. We calculate the Bragg reflection spectrum of 3D LCPC by coupled- mode theory (CMT), and further obtain theoretical diffraction images based on the angle-dependent Bragg reflection. The simulated diffraction patterns are very close to the experimental results. Additionally, we can analyze their dispersion relation and their diffraction images for 3D LCPCs with different lattice symmetries by wavelength-scanning.
