Lattice QCD continues to provide important inputs for high-energy physics applications. In this presentation recent advancements made in the field, and reported in the last year, will be briefly highlighted and assessed. We will see that lattice QCD has entered a new era of precision for standard observables and simple systems while reliable results for nuclear matrix elements are also becoming available. The role of technical advancements in arriving at the physical point and controlling the systematics and numerics is briefly discussed.
