EXHIBITION INFORMATION:

With the resurgence of tea culture in Taiwan over the recent years, many Taiwanese creators of ceramics have been deeply inspired and motivated.

In addition to sculptures of their own styles, they place great emphasis on combining their artistic value with Taiwan’s tea culture and tea ceremony while developing stylistically distinctive tea ware. In addition to the fragrance from the meticulous cultivation and roasting by tea makers, these artists bring visual and tactile experiences to tea enthusiasts, helping them enjoy the warmth and weight of the pottery in their hands and immerse themselves in beautiful moments of color, fragrance, taste, and touch.

Gallery Life Seeding is honored to be a part of the satellite exhibitions for the theme of “New Orientalia” of this year’s International Academy of Ceramics Congress. Featured in our exhibition are iconic, masterful Taiwanese ceramists Shih Chi-yao, Lin Ching-sung, Chen Chih-chiang, Luo Shao-chi, Huang Yu-ying, Huang Jun-cheng, Tseng Jing-shiau, and Lin Ching-che, who demonstrate classic expressions and techniques that closely connect ceramics to tea culture. Featured works include purple sand, Tenmoku, celadon, Shino ware, crystal glaze, white porcelain, mixed clay, and the emerging tourmaline tea ware. We hope to introduce enthusiasts of tea ceremony and tea ware to another dimension in tea culture, so that they can appreciate the dedication and growth of contemporary Taiwanese ceramists as tea ceremony develops in Taiwan.
