diida ART BOX

Diida Art Box is situated at Sec. 3, Minsheng E. Rd., in an alley near Mandarin Oriental Taipei right across Scene Homeware. Surrounded by financial institutions and office buildings, it is at a commercial district with busy traffic and office workers on the run.

Its space is designed to link creators and viewers and gather creative art works. Everyone can take a break and stop to visit periodic exhibitions, irregular projects, and current selection of art works at this urban jungle. It is hoped that this visual aesthetic stimulation can foster artistic culture on Main Street, broaden its aesthetic horizons, and spice up urban life.

EXHIBITION INFORMATION:

“I wonder whether the stars are set alight in heaven so that one day each one of us may find his own again.” - ‎Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince

Every person is like a star with unique light that brighten the night sky. Such is the concept on which this exhibition is based, to discover personal light through the works of various artists. We offer not only an exchange of creative concepts but also exploration into the possibilities in modern ceramic art, while bringing visual stimuli to the viewer.

This exhibition features four artists, The Volcano, Wu Qi (a.k.a. 57), Yang Zong-jia, and Tsai Wen-ming (a.k.a. 5min). Their different forms of art offers the viewer new imagination about ceramics. The Volcano uses misplaced genitals to create absurdity and unique visual representation that convey surreal desire. Wu Qi presents his character designs in ceramics art. From transformations of birds, beasts, and Ganesha, his works suggest hidden meanings and tell personal stories. Yang Zong-jia uses the relationship between objects and emotions to explore the differentiation of childhood and adulthood. There are subtle, emotional expressions in the linearity. The subjects of Tsai Wen-ming’s works are cats and goldfish. They contain children’s innocent words and delicately portrays their movements, secretly talking to the world.

This exhibition is held for Congress and General Assembly of the International Academy of Ceramics, connecting local artists to present their different philosophies and expressions. Like a constellation of satellites, these exhibitions connect art venues to guide viewers in discovering more forms of art and their values.
