xiaoqi+g

xiaoqi+g, or “+g” for short, is an art space of Xiaoqi, where lifestyle-related projects are on display. “+g” means “+gallery. “Since its inception in 2012, on average one exhibition is curated every month. Japanese writers, creative brands, and the project team work together so that people in Taiwan can visit a variety of exhibitions and have access to crafts and design thinking without going overseas. “+g” will keep working in the lifestyle design circle in Taiwan.

EXHIBITION INFORMATION:

To sustain our lives, we must eat, and utensils play an indispensable role in this process, making them extremely valuable. In current utensil-making circle in Japan, more people are using the term “author” to refer to the creators who produce these objects that we use every day than “ceramic artist.”

The owner of Utsuwa Shoken Gallery in Kamakura City, Japan, Ms. Shoken Tomoo is dedicated to promoting the beauty of utensils by planning exhibitions and displays while writing and publishing books both in Japan and overseas. The authors selected by Utsuwa Shoken Gallery have works that offer pleasant functional experiences in addition to artistic beauty. From rice bowls to soup bowls, teapots, plates, and mortars, this exhibition presents works from Japan’s most celebrated authors of the day. Please enjoy.
