Dear Colleagues,

It is a great pleasure and an honor to announce that Taiwan-Japan Plant Biology 2017, co-organized by TSPB and JSPP, will be held on November 3 to 6, 2017, at the Humanities and Social Sciences Building, Academia Sinica, Taipei, Taiwan. Registration is open now, and we invite you to attend this first joint meeting.

TSPB (Taiwanese Society of Plant Biologists) and JSPP (Japanese Society of Plant Physiologists) represent major scientific societies in Taiwan and Japan, respectively, both established in the late 1950’s partly as a nation-representing plant science community tied with International Association of Plant Physiologists. Both societies promote communication within the members who are engaged or interested in researches on plant physiology and related subjects, ranging from basic sciences, agriculture, to pharmacology.

Sharing the history and scientific background in plant research, both societies have been seeking for an opportunity for strengthening their intimate interactions, and agreed to co-organize Taiwan-Japan Plant Biology 2017. This meeting takes place as an extension of the TSPB annual meeting, which is open to both TSPB and JSPP members who wish to attend and present their scientific findings (Please note that the presentation is limited to the members). We offer financial support for students and young researchers of both societies, who we hope be exposed to an international atmosphere through the presentation of their own work.

In this exciting joint meeting, we arrange six Keynote talks from the leading scientists in plant biology, fifteen concurrent oral sessions that include four speakers’ and a few selected talks from your poster applications, and poster sessions. Each concurrent session will be co-chaired by designated TSPB and JSPP members. For the first time to JSPP members, presentation award will be given to successful presenters that are selected by submitted abstracts and poster presentations at the meeting.

In addition to the scientific activity, we offer you Conference Gala Dinner at a wonderful, traditional Taiwanese restaurant located at MAJI Square. We also offer you an optional tour to go around the capital city of Taiwan, including a visit to the world-famous National Palace Museum.

Finally, we acknowledge numerous Taiwanese sponsors supporting our meeting, and hope the meeting bring us successful scientific and social forum for plant science.

Don’t miss and join this first meeting!
