Optical design in Light Field Near-Eye-Display
Fleming Chuang

Augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) are two of the ways that tech can change the way you look at the world. AR and VR are increasingly used in diversified application areas. However, the traditional stereoscopic displays in general, exists a well-known problem - VAC (Vergence-Accommodation-Conflict) in the realm of Near-Eye-Display (NED). It forces the viewer’s brain to unnaturally adapt to conflicting cues of binocular imagery for fusion from brain and fixed cue image. This contributes to visual fatigue and even cause serious side-effects in or after using the device. Light field display architectures provide a way to enable true 3D displays that provide a natural and comfortable experience. The current work is going to present the optical design techniques for time-multiplexed and space-multiplexed light field display applied in NED. This presentation will also introduce optical design techniques, key tradeoffs of LFNED for two kinds of state-of-the-art light field NED architecture.

A conceptual design of the hyperspectral system is proposed for visible (VIS) light and short-wave infrared (SWIR) light wavelengths. For the spectral analysis, the sensing data needs to deal with the difference of the system response and process into the credible reflection spectrum by conducting spatial and spectral corrections.

Application of Telescopes and Microscopes Using Pechan Prism
Wen-Shing Sun;Yu-Hsin Tu

Applying the Pechan prism into the objective system of the telescope and microscope, the length of general commercial specification is reduced by 11.52% and 45.34% with the magnification of 8x and 200x respectively. Then evaluate the quality of the system by RMS, Strehl Ratio, optical distortion and lateral colour.

A study of wave-front coding applied to digital optical system
Qi-Feng Lee;Cheng-Chung Lee;Yi-Chin Fang;Cheng-Mu Tsai

This research mainly focuses the development of wave-front coding digital algorithm and the design of an optical system which conforms to wavefront coding system. Therefore, we carried out several designs and analysis. Meanwhile we restored the defocus image to the near-diffraction limit imaging results.

12:00 - 12:15 Paper No.  2018-FRI-S0503-O004
Yu-Chieh Huang
Solar Blinds Using Side-absorption Concentrator
Yu-Chieh Huang;An-Chi Wei;Jyh-Rou Sze

This article proposes a kind of blinds with a side-absorption concentrator. This solar collector has the function of blinds. When the sunlight excessively exposures, the blinds block the light and absorb the heat of the sunlight. The energy absorbed and used by this solar blind will be calculated.

Effect of Object Distance and Ocular Power on Retinal Image Surface Shapes
Ching-Yao Huang

This study is to calculate the retinal image surface shapes of objects in the visual field of 50 degrees on different refractive powers of eye. The results show that the closer the object distance and the lower the ocular power, the greater the curvature of the image surface is.
