Plasmonic Effects of Gold Nanoparticles on the Performance of Perovksite Light-Emitting Diodes
Chen-Min Yang;Lu-Syuan Jhuang;Fang-Chung Chen

We have investigated the plasmonic effects of gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) on performance of perovksite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs).We blended Au NPs into hole transport layer to trigger localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR), which enhanced the performance of the PeLEDs. The current efficiency improved from 3.0 cd/A to 4.5 cd/A

Comparison of Glass-Based and PET-Based Organic Light-Emitting Diodes with Recessed Anodes
Ching-Ming Hsu;Wen-Tuan Wu;U-Jin Peng;Wei-Ming Lin;Bie-Hong Chung

Organic light-emitting diodes with a recessed indium tin oxide anode on PET showed much higher light extraction efficiency than those on glass. The current efficiency enhancement reaches 92% for PET and only 20% for glass. The discrepancies in refractive index and haze plays important roles for such a reservation.

Triplet Annihilation Between Phosphorescent and Fluorescent Emitter in Blue Organic Light Emitting Diode
Tse-Ying Chen;Yu-Cheng Chiu;Jiun-Haw Lee;Tien-Lung Chiu

The energy quenching access through triplet annihilation was demonstrated by using triplet-triplet fusion fluorescent emitters to split the triplet energy from the phosphorescent emitter. The splitted energy becomes singlet excitons then goes back to the phosphorescent emitter. This energy circle leads energy loss and shorten the operational lifetime of OLED.

Po-An Tsai;Chih-Chien Lee;Yo-Tang Wu;Tzu-Hung Yeh;Chieh-Hsin Chen;Feng-Han Yu;Sajal Biring;Shun-Wei Liu

We have investigated the performance of an exciplex based fluorescent organic light-emitting diode (OLED). The exciplex co-host transfers both singlet and triplet energy to the fluorescent dopant efficiently. The Exciplex OLED exhibits low operational voltage, and low efficiency roll-off.

Electro-opto controllable aperture for linearly polarized lights using tandem twisted nematic liquid crystal cells
Ching-Yen Tu;Jia-Hau Li;Te-Yuan Chung;Cheng-Kai Liu;Ko-Ting Cheng

Combing the properties of PVK and twisted nematic liquid crystal (TNLC) can be applied as an electro-opto controllable LC aperture. This study proposes that the tandem 90˚-TNLC can improve the performances of the LC aperture.

Memory Properties of Silica-dispersed LCDs
Shie-Chang Jeng;Chieh-Lun Lee

Silica-dispersed liquid crystals (SDLCs) has been demonstrated with the bistable effect. Although the driving frequency-dependent memory effect of SDLCs has been reported previously, the mechanism is not clear. Our results show that dielectrophoresis force can break up the aggregates of silica nanoparticles and influences the memory property.

Broadening the reflection bandwidth of cholesteric liquid crystals doped with chiral polymer
Ming-Hong Yuan;Chieh-Hsiang Hsu;Cheng-Kai Liu;Ko-Ting Cheng

This study is about the broadening the reflection bandwidth of cholesteric liquid crystals using the photo-polymerization of chiral polymer. With the illumination of UV light, the chirality of the LC mixture can be reduced due to the reduction of the amount of un-polymerized chiral polymer.

Effects of the interdigital-electrode pattern on the electro-optical properties of vertically-aligned in-plane switching liquid crystal devices
Lin Shung Lee

The effects of the interdigital-electrode pattern (IEP) on the electro-optical properties of vertically-aligned in-plane switching liquid crystal devices are simulated. Two kinds of IEPs (width/gap) are selected: 3/9 and 4/8 (μm). The device with the 3/9 IEP shows the better electro-optical properties than that with the 4/8 IEP.

Effects of the indium-tin-oxide electrode on the vertical-alignment in-plane switching liquid crystal devices
Po-chun lin

The effects of indium-tin-oxide (ITO) electrode on the vertical-alignment in-plane switching (VA-IPS) liquid crystal (LC) devices are simulated and demonstrated. Two kinds of VA-IPS cells with and without ITO on the top substrate are proposed. The cell with the ITO thin film shows the better electro-optic properties.

Multi-angle director model for blue-phase liquid crystal
Tsung-Hao Sue

We replace a blue phase liquid crystal (BPLC) cell by stacking nematic liquid crystal (NLC) cells to conform the electro-optical characteristics of the BPLC. We calculate the total phase difference of the BPLC cell, and find that the simulation results fit the experimental results very well.

A Comparison of Perceptual Color Differences of 3D Objects in Virtual and Real Environments
Yan-Zhen Lai;Pei-Li Sun;Wei-Chun Hung

Three visual experiments were conducted to compare the perceptual color differences of 3D objects. The results show that human vision would discount lightness differences in seeing 3D objects. To simulate the real-world visual differences, using virtual objects with HDR display is better than using LDR display.

Kuan-Ting Pan;Po-Yi Kuo;Ji-Lin Wang;Po-Tsun Liu

In this work, the less metal contamination Ni-induced lateral crystallization (LC-NILC) poly-Si TFTs were successfully fabricated. The amounts of Ni diffused into the poly-Si film can be successfully controlled with pre-heating by hot plate before removal of Ni layer and crystallization.

This study examined the phase behaviors and dielectric properties of binary liquid crystal mixtures. Each of the binary mixtures contains a TFT-grade liquid crystal with positive dielectric anisotropy and a negative liquid crystal. Correlations were sought based on the relative content of MLC-6608 in a binary mixture.

The proposed evolutional gate driver utilizes “noise-free node sharing” for area reduction,noise-free structure of the proposed design is shared with four output stages and combines them to form a new single stage with four outputs. In non-working state, the pre-charging node is coupled periodically by switching clock via parasitic capacitance.

Photoelectric Properties and Kerr Constants of Vertically-aligned Ferroelectric Liquid Crystal Cells
Kai-Han Hsu;Wen-Chang Lo;Tien-Jung Chen;Jin-Jei Wu

This study investigates the photoelectric effect of vertically-aligned ferroelectric liquid crystal (FLC) cells. We filled FLCs into cells of a thickness larger than the material pitch. Different electrode separations and widths were used to prepare LC cells. By measuring their T-V curves we calculate the birefringences and the kerr constants.
